Lost: Blogging Mojo

I remember days, back when I first started blogging, that I couldn't wait to write up a post. Everything seemed like perfect blog fodder. I had more post ideas than I knew what to do with.

Over the last year (maybe more), I've found that nothing seems to strike me as interesting enough for a blog post. I've lost my blogging mojo and I can't seem to get it back. Maybe my plate is just too full. Maybe the season is over for this blog. Or maybe I just need to find my blogging groove again. Either way, I appreciate those readers who have stuck with me over the years, who continue to comment and provide encouragement when I need it.

Maybe 2010 will be the year I find my blogging mojo (and my voice) again.

Hey! I hope the season isn't over, because I love reading your blog! Maybe your plate IS too full, not leaving you enough time to be creative. Or maybe you need to rethink what your blog is about. What's the focus? What do you want to share/teach/learn? Might you combine your two blogs into one so you have more content and less upkeep?

Happy New Year! AND Happy Birthday!

Hey, I totally understand. I was in a blogging rut myself until I revamped and refocused my blog. Maybe a 2010 makeover with an exciting new theme will pep you up? Good luck and I hope you keep it up!

Alexis and Peggy - Thanks for the encouragement, as always. And for the advice. I do think part of the problem is that I'm blogging in too many places. I wanted to add a blog to my website that was focused solely on writing (Write Out Loud), but that left less to write about here. And I don't want to write about "life in general" topics at Write Out Loud because I want it to have a clear writing focus. I'm OK with only posting a couple of times a week at Write Out Loud, but because I'm working on freelance projects and blogging there, there's much less time to just have fun with blogging here. Sadly, that was the whole reason I started blogging in the first place. I wanted to write for fun. Not because I needed to get my name out there, I was trying to make money, or I wanted provide any useful information.

Just. For. Fun.

Hmmm. Maybe that's what I needed to remember...

Just. For. Fun. I like it! What's your passion. Seems like mine has really transitioned in the last year from making millions to staying healthy! Loved you suggestion about becoming a CSA member. Wish I lived somewhere where they offered it. I too am 34 this year and have gone through some health stuff with my husband that has given me direction & passion I would have never had. Go green - toxin free & help others do the same is now my passion! Yahoo. You will re-engage. Don't lose hope.

You can have a writing focus here at Write Out Loud and still cover other topics. My blog is about writing, but I find ways to write about other stuff -- otherwise, it gets dry! Plus, writing about other topics (as long as they're sorta related) helps us get a better feel for your personality, get to know you.

No one wants to read about what your dog ate for lunch, but giving yourself leeway and a broader scope might help you feel revitalized AND gain a few readers.

Anon - Passion about the topics I post about is important. Thanks for reminding me of that. Sounds like you've got some great stuff in the works, too! Good luck and good health to you and your family.

Alexis - It's a good point you make and I'm going back and forth on it. My problem is that I like to right about whatever strikes my fancy here and it's not always related to writing, which is why I started my other blog (Write Out Loud) to begin with. On the other hand, maybe I don't need a completely writing-focused blog. After all, there are tons of those out there...something to consider in the New Year, I guess. Thanks for the suggestions.

Is this like getting your groove back? My writing chops are on vacation thus far in 2010. I remember someone saying that if you're bored, you're boring. YIKES! I think I might have become just that despite many interests and talents. If you come up with the right mix to get that mojo flowing, you need to share!
